Playground Equipment, Sets, and Saftey
Here
at Playgroundgallery.com we strive to educate people about playground
equipment. There are different types of playground sets for both residential
and commercial settings. Playgroundgallery.com is not affiliated with
any brand or company and does not endorse any particular type of playground
equipment.
Children need a place to play. They need to be able to stretch their
minds and bodies, and a playground is the ideal place for this. Playgrounds
are often outdoors, but can be found indoors as well. The size of the
playground and the materials that are used to build it can vary widely,
so no matter what kind of area you have to put a playground in, you’ll
be able to find something that will work.
Playgrounds are wonderful places for learning. Playground equipment
motivates children to climb and play on it, which improves their strength,
coordination, and flexibility. They are also a great place for children
to learn social interaction with other people. Bonds between children
and adults can be strengthened, along with emotional understanding between
kids.
These things and spontaneous play provide a lot of psychological benefits
to children.
Putting a playground set at home is a great way to provide your children
with somewhere to play and exercise whenever they want. Residential
playground equipment can be found online, and in many stores.
No matter what kind of budget you’re working with, you’ll
be able to make some sturdy playground equipment. If you have a super-skinny
budget, some 2x4s and plywood can create a play area that will provide
hours of entertainment for your children every day.
If you are able to go “all-out” when buying playground equipment,
there are many things you can get to “accessorize” the play
area. Things like telescopes and steering wheels come in child-friendly
plastic, and can attach right to the playground set. These can engage
your child’s imagination even more and the bright colors these
come in stimulate their senses.
Commercial playground equipment is larger and more expensive than residential.
These playground sets are often found at parks, childcare facilities,
schools, and religious institutions. Sometimes they are also found at
resorts, and you can often find them at fast-food restaurants.
You can find commercial playground equipment indoors and outdoors, depending
on the type of playground equipment. Some indoor playgrounds are elaborate
and have a lot of fancy toys. These often charge admission, and chains
of them can be found in almost any large city. Outdoor playgrounds are
generally free to enter because they are on public land.
There is a lot of equipment that seems to come standard on many playgrounds.
Swing-sets seem to be forever popular. Nothing can really replace the
sensation of being on a swing, and all ages from tiny babies to adults
enjoy swings. Children also love spring animals. These are painted creatures
usually made of metal or plastic that are mounted on a spring. When
children climb onto these and rock, it gives the impression that they’re
riding the animal.
Bridges are also popular because kids can run over them or crawl under
them. Arched bridges and hanging bridges create very different effects
when being crossed, and are good for promoting balance. Last but not
least, slides are toy that no playground would be complete without.
Some slides are attached to other playground equipment, and some stand
alone. Children love the feeling of sliding down either into the sand
or the arms of a parent.
Keep in mind that some playground equipment is not good for certain
ages of children. Tree forts are fun, but should not be provided for
small children. A child should have good upper body strength and balance
before they are allowed to play in a tree fort. Small children also
need careful supervision around slides and swings. They could fall off
these, or be hit by another child playing on them.
Playground safety is important, but not difficult to achieve. Many playgrounds have mats to soften any potential spills kids might take, but there is no substitute for supervision. Injuries occur on playground equipment every year. They are mostly scrapes and bumps, but nobody wants to see their child hurt, no matter how minor the injury is. Playground safety is important for children to be able to enjoy themselves while playing and learning.
